What graphics cards will work with a Dell OptiPlex GX260 SFF?

I've asked this question many times before, and I can't seem to get a straight answer out of anyone. I just beggar a simple answer: What graphics cards will work with a Dell OptiPlex GX260 SFF?

since i don't own 1 the best answer i can give you is to contact dell support. i have heard you can buy agp cards in what is called low outline but with that case you also have to watch the overall length of the video card. my advice would be for you to buy a compatable form factor spire and put that motherboard and drives in it. then the only worries you'll have is whether you need an agp or a pci video card. according to what i just read in the yahoo rummage i ran that board has a agp slot and a standard pci slot. so you are limited to agp video cards as it has no pciexpress slots. so with the low profile argument you need a low profile agp video card if you put that board in a tower case (highly advisable) then you can use any agp video dance-card.
  • You aren't going to like what I'm about to say and lay this question to rest

This really is a non starter, this Dell used AGP technology which is now years out of day and also will need half height cards. The chances of you finding a compatible card are remote. Dell may do them but they would probably be madly expensive.Additionally it is likely that the power supply would not be sufficient to power the card anyway.

The Dell motherboard will not fit in a standard ATX lawsuit so you couldn't even buy a cheap case and PSU and get around it that way

It's time to buy a new barebones kit
  • It has a 4xAGP socket so you're not looking at anything fancy. Nvidia 5500FX cards are bargain-priced, something like the Geforce 7300 AGP card is about as good as it gets with an AGP port. Some forums suggest you may only have space for a half elevation card because of the shape of the case. So that'd give you a choice of a rare and probably gutless card or a normal AGP card but you having to vacate the side off your machine/reshape the case with pliers.
  • well for starters you might check the dell web site and ask them.. cause openly asking populace in cyberspace hoping to get an answer could take forever cause nobody knows, or doesn't care to search for you. the other option is to leak the comptuer apart and give it a new case and upgrade the whole system... if you are willing to do that then by all means we could help you. but most graphic cards are immeasurable and have giant fans on the side of them... is your case big enough? most likely not if you purchased it from a store... this being the case.. nobody can help you brew your case is too small.
